About Me
Charles Page
Described as a renaissance man and an exceptionally talented artist, Charles Page has earned a reputation as a talented musician, skillful performer, and revered pedagogue. Starting the piano at the age of six, flute at age eleven, and having the experience of being an accomplished singer-songwriter, Charles Page has a varied musical background that allows him to perform and teach music in many areas. In high school he studied with Rosemary Champion and Evelyn Loehrlein of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and was equally versed in flute and piccolo. Page obtained the highest Alabama All-State red band flute and red band piccolo for three years in a row and was principal flute and piccolo at Grissom High School and the Huntsville Youth Orchestra among many other honor bands. In high school he discovered his love for concerti and won first prize in Alabama All-State's solo competition in Auburn and Huntsville Youth Orchestra's concerto competition in 2010 and he furthered that love by entering and being a prizewinner in the University of Alabama and New York University's concerto competitions.

Mr. Page holds his master's degree in flute performance from New York University and bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in flute performance with a vocal secondary. His primary teachers are the world renowned Dr. Brad Garner (Juilliard/CCM/NYU) and Dr. Diane Schultz (UA) and at New York University he took weekly classes with extended technique expert Robert Dick and technique and repertoire classes with Keith Underwood. Mr. Page was on the teaching faculty at New York University and won the concerto competition playing Rampal's transcription of the Khachaturian violin concerto and performed it in Manhattan's Symphony Space. As a freshman in the first semester in his undergraduate degree, he won the top audition and was the first to simultaneously be in Alabama's Wind Ensemble, Huxford Orchestra, and Million Dollar Band. At New York University, he received the top flute audition and obtained a scholarship and teaching assistantship to attend and was principal in the orchestra. Page has taught all skill levels and has been a professor of flute at New York University, the University of Alabama Community Music School, and has held a private studio since 2009. Page currently performs on a solid 14k gold Brannen Brothers flute made in 1993, a solid 14k Powell, a 19.5k Powell Flute with 10k mechanism, and Powell grenadilla and kingwood piccolos.
Page founded the Huntsville Flute Guild in 2021, Huntsville Flute Studio in 2018, FineFluteFind in 2011, and is in the process of recording a solo vocal album titled Charles Page and authoring a technique book for the flute called Guide to Employing a Myriad Number of Techniques for Flute: The French and American School. Mr. Page founded the Golden Trio with his flute students Janet Cashion and Jana Clark with each of their flutes being obtained by Mr. Page's FineFluteFind. Being an active and competitive musician, Charles has won competitions at the National Flute Association, Federation of Music Clubs, Louisiana Flute Society, Midsouth Flute Festival, Kentucky Flute Society and the University of Alabama and New York University's concerto competition. Locations, Pricing, and Attendance
I maintain a highly successful studio of all ages in the Huntsville, Alabama area and I offer the first half hour consultation lesson free. Students have placed in the Huntsville Youth Orchestra, top chairs in honor bands and/or all-state as flute and piccolo, and have been successful at competitions as well as area professionals who gig in the pits of musicals, wind bands, and play in regional orchestras. My curriculum is rooted in the big picture and all students are required to learn the fundamentals. Lessons are held in my studio in South Huntsville and are $50 an hour. Scholarships may be available for driven students that are found to have an undeniable talent and have a demonstrated need. I require payment by the month and on the first lesson of the month. Cancellations under 7 days are NOT made up unless there are extraneous circumstances. If you have notified me 7 days in advance or have an absolute emergency, lessons missed are made up at my convenience (usually the last Sunday of the month.) I am also available for Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom lessons by request.
Flute Studio End of the Year Party
The Huntsville Flute Studio will be having an end of the year party and will resume with recitals next year! These meetings are a wonderful way to build rapport with your musical colleagues and meet new musicians. If you are a new student, it is a breakout way to meet other flutists to play chamber music and can parlay into endless possibilities for the future.
